Reuben wanted to take the next step with his website, cementing his authority as a fine artist with a flexible, simple, and elegant platform. The custom design and build encompasses simple and equivalent presentation of images and videos in the Field Notes, Selected Works, and Commission sections. Field Notes is a high-impact editorial slideshow introducing Reuben, his work, and events around it. Selected Works and Commissions allows us to see the breadth of his creative vision and dive deep into specific projects: each project features images and video and often behind-the-scenes material. We also focused on thoughtful details, including an animated mobile menu icon, subtle video indicators, and seamless light/dark mode support.
Throughout Reuben was a collaborator, conspirator, and refreshing in his analysis of what worked and what was needed. I find his work breathtaking and the scope and scale of his creativity inspiring. This site is a window into his impressive world.
My newfound collaboration with Mike Hartley of bigflannel was pivotal. He had the skills to translate what felt like a vast jumble of creative output into something refined and cohesive. More impressively, he had the patience to endure my perfectionist tendencies as I agonised over details down to the half-pixel level while slowly acquainting myself with the broad strokes of web design. If you’re considering a new website, I cannot recommend Mike enough.
